UWM Alumni Travel Program

The UWM Alumni Association (“UWMAA”) is not a travel agency or tour operator. UWMAA is not an agent for any travel agency, tour operator, and/or any UWMAA-affiliated participant (“Participant”). UWMAA partners with tour operators, who handle the logistical aspects of the trip itineraries and take all registrations and payments. UWMAA works with our partners to select trips that meet the highest standards and provide a unique educational experience for our travelers.

UWMAA is not responsible for changes, losses, or additional expenses of Participants associated with flight or cruise times or fares; dishonor of airline, hotel, cruise, or car-rental reservations; weather; injury or sickness; pandemic or quarantine; damage; delays; inconveniences; accidents; acts or defaults of any person or entity engaged in conveying Participants or in carrying out other arrangements of the tour; tour operator or travel agency cessation of operations; strikes; bankruptcies; civil unrest; acts of terrorism; actions of government agencies and officials; acts of God; or any other event beyond its control. Further, UWMAA shall not be responsible for any alteration in any itinerary deemed necessary for carrying out the tour for any reason, including, but not limited to, passenger safety, port congestion, or the substitution of hotels of similar quality.

The right is reserved to the tour operator and/or specific travel provider to postpone or cancel any tour or portion of the tour; in which case the tour operator’s cancellation and refund policies will apply. The tour operator and/or travel provider also reserves the right to change the retail price of any tour. The tour operator’s and/or travel provider’s terms and conditions will apply to Participant cancellations or requests for refunds. No refunds or discounts will be paid by UWMAA for any reason.

The right is also reserved to decline to accept or to retain any Participant as a member of the tour should such person’s health, actions, or behavior impede the operation of the tour or the rights or welfare of the other Participants. In such case, no refund will be made for the unused portion of any tour.

Any tour operator and/or travel provider hosted tours, without exclusive UWMAA group activities, may be substantially different.
By embarking upon travel, Participants voluntarily assume all risks involved in such travel, whether expected or unexpected. For information concerning possible dangers at international destinations, contact the U.S. State Department, 202-647-5225, or access the State Department’s online travel advisory service. For medical information, call the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) at 800-232-4636 or visit the CDC’s website.

Participants are hereby warned of the above risks as well as possible travel industry force majeure, bankruptcies, medical and climatic disruptions, and the possibility Participants may be unable to travel as scheduled because of personal emergency. Participants are advised to consider obtaining appropriate insurance coverage against these risks. Information regarding travel insurance is available from UWMAA at the time of the reservation booking.

UWMAA reserves the right to copyright, use, and publish photographs and videos of Participants on UWMAA tours for advertising, publicity, promotional, and other purposes.
Applicants for participation on a tour accept in full all of the conditions set forth above.

Who may travel with the Alumni Travel Program?
Everyone is welcome to travel— from alumni and friends to fans and family. You do not need to be a UW-Milwaukee graduate to enjoy the opportunity to explore the world with Panther travelers.

How do I learn more about the trip I’m interested in?
If we don’t have the information up on our website yet, please email advance@uwm.edu and ask for information to be sent to you. Brochures are printed about 6-9 months in advance of the tour. Once you are actually booked on the tour, a packet of additional information will be sent to you. This information will include what to pack, hotel/ship information, inoculations needed, etc.

Do I need a passport?
It depends on the tour – all international travel requires a passport. Your passport should be valid for three months beyond your planned return date. Should you need to apply for a passport, please contact your local post office for an application. If your passport has expired and it was issued less than 12 years ago, you will just need a renewal form.

Do I need a Visa?
Again, it depends on the tour. If a Visa is required, an application form and directions for filling out the form will be sent to you.

How do I know when final payment is due on my tour?
An invoice is sent to you explaining all your charges once you sign up, and then again when the final payment is due.

What if I want to make all of my air arrangements?
You can – we do offer land only pricing, which will include everything on the tour, except transportation to the hotel or on board ship, depending on the tour.

Can I go early or stay later on your tour?
Yes, you can deviate either at the beginning or the end of the tour with a minimal air deviation charge. Our tour operator can also assist you with additional hotel nights, etc.

Your dates won’t work for me, are there any other options?
Yes, many of our programs are offered with multiple dates, although you wouldn’t necessarily be traveling with a UWM alumni group. You would still be identified as a UWM Alumni traveler.
