Why Capital Budget Projects Matter
The long-term physical development and renovations of UWM’s campus are essential. They ensure that students and researchers have modern, updated facilities, and that UWM can increase the enrollment capacity for rapidly growing programs.
Health Science Renovation
UWM’s College of Health Professions & Sciences trains nearly 3,000 students annually — more than any other institution in southeastern Wisconsin. The proposed renovation of UWM’s Health Sciences building will:
- Expand enrollment capacity
- Attract and retain top faculty and students
- Modernize labs and classrooms with
state-of-the-art technology while expanding interprofessional learning environments - Strengthen a key regional workforce pipeline for skilled health care workers
Engineering & Neuroscience
UWM’s Engineering & Neuroscience building project will enhance the state’s STEM workforce by providing the upgraded facilities necessary to attract and retain students in these high-demand fields. The proposed building will:
- Expand capacity to train more engineers
- Fuel regional economic growth through research and industry partnerships
- Replace outdated labs with modern, high-tech spaces
- Keep UWM competitive with its peers while providing students with modern facilities
